Fracture and Orthopedic Clinic
UCC operates a weekly fracture clinic at the Brampton East Site run by Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr Hai-Feng Ren. Fractures initially managed by our UCC physicians are then referred to the fracture clinic for further care. We offer a variety of casting and splinting options. Physicians can fax referrals to 416-750-1500.
Some Common Q&As
Is it just a “fracture” clinic?
No. We also perform a large volume of joint injections on top of treating fractures.
✓ What conditions can benefit from joint injections
✓ Knee & shoulder pain and other conditions (e.g. tennis elbow, wrist tendonitis, trigger finger, plantar fasciitis, etc.).
What we DO NOT see
X Open fractures
X Spine problems (neck/back pain)
X Chronic pediatric problems (e.g., scoliosis, in-toeing etc.)
✓ We do see acute pediatric fractures and finger/toe fractures
What initial immobilization is needed for fractures?
A half cast (vs a circumferential one) for upper extremity fractures or an air cast boot and non-weight bearing for lower extremity fractures. No need for any circumferential cast.
